Confirmed facts
These points are supported by attributable manufacturer or corporate source material.
An official production identity
Hyundai unveiled IONIQ V on 24 April 2026 as the production development of its VENUS concept. The global announcement identifies China as its first market and leaves availability elsewhere for later evaluation.
China introductory price
Beijing Hyundai advertises a limited-time starting price of 99,900 yuan. CnEVPost reports five versions launched on 29 September, with regular guide prices from 109,900 to 139,900 yuan. These are not UK prices.
Two front-wheel-drive battery choices
The Chinese specification pairs 53.48 kWh with 140 kW and 540 km CLTC, or 66.85 kWh with 168 kW and 650 km CLTC. Both use lithium iron phosphate batteries. Gross versus usable capacity is not specified.
Charging claim has a defined window
Beijing Hyundai quotes 20 minutes for 30–80% direct-current charging on both batteries. This is not a 10–80% time; charger requirements and full test conditions remain unverified.
Space and equipment
Hyundai confirms 4,900 mm length, 1,890 mm width and a 2,900 mm wheelbase. Its China page lists a 465-litre boot and 27-inch display. Future UK equipment cannot be inferred from this specification.
Provisional information
Manufacturer targets and early specifications may change. Check the final UK version before comparing costs or capability.
Reported range and electrical architecture
Electrek reports 443 km and 533 km WLTP and an 800 V system. The reviewed Chinese specification table uses CLTC. We have not verified the reported WLTP figures or model-specific voltage from primary homologation evidence, so neither becomes a UK specification.
What is not confirmed yet?
- UK or European launch approval, right-hand-drive production, order opening and delivery dates
- UK list price, on-the-road price, P11D value and employer-provider quotations
- UK-certified range, usable battery capacity, charging peak and test conditions
- UK seats, equipment, options, warranty, servicing and insurance acceptance
How should you use this information?
Consider your replacement date, everyday journeys, and the choices your employer’s programme supports.
Keep the Chinese price in context
Currency conversion cannot establish a UK budget. An employer comparison needs local specification, a verified P11D value and a dated provider quotation with the same term, mileage and services.
Compare charging windows consistently
A 30–80% claim covers less battery replenishment than a 10–80% claim. Compare the same starting charge and conditions before judging suitability for regular longer journeys.
Keep a replacement plan
For an employee with a fixed lease-end date, compare available UK models now. We can help employers assess supply, insurance and service support if a UK IONIQ V programme is announced.
