Confirmed facts
These points are supported by attributable manufacturer or corporate source material.
An officially named electric model
Mitsubishi announced the ASX VR-e for Australia and New Zealand in August 2026. It is supplied by Foxtron and should not be confused with the existing combustion ASX or the separate electric Eclipse Cross.
New Zealand specification
Mitsubishi New Zealand lists a 57.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. LS, XLS and Exceed have rear-wheel drive and 171 kW; GSR has two motors, all-wheel drive and 342 kW. These are New Zealand specifications.
Range depends on the version
New Zealand WLTP figures are 403 km for LS, 398 km for XLS, 380 km for Exceed and 328 km for GSR. The same release quotes up to 134 kW DC charging and approximately 30 minutes from 10% to 80% in suitable conditions.
Compact dimensions and passenger space
The New Zealand release gives a 4,315 mm length and 2,800 mm wheelbase, describing room for three rear passengers. UK seating and homologated dimensions remain unconfirmed.
Local chassis development
Mitsubishi's global announcement confirms local-road testing and dedicated suspension tuning. Its New Zealand announcement credits both Pininfarina and Foxtron.
Provisional information
Manufacturer targets and early specifications may change. Check the final UK version before comparing costs or capability.
Australian steering and ride calibration
Carsales' 21 October interview reports changes to dampers, bump stops and electric steering, developed with Foxtron at Lang Lang. Driver-assistance software was still being refined. This is Australian-market reporting, not a promised UK chassis specification.
Overseas launch timetable
Mitsubishi New Zealand plans dealership arrivals in December 2026. The Australian launch remains a late-2026 programme. Neither timetable establishes UK orders or deliveries.
Underlying Foxtron relationship
Independent reporting identifies the related Foxtron Bria. Earlier output and NEDC range figures for that car must not replace Mitsubishi's later, market-specific specification.
What is not confirmed yet?
- UK launch decision, order opening and first deliveries
- UK list price, on-the-road price, P11D value and employer-provider availability
- Final UK grades, range, battery gross/usable capacity, charging specification and options
- UK seating, luggage capacity, towing, insurance, warranty and servicing support
How should you use this information?
Consider your replacement date, everyday journeys, and the choices your employer’s programme supports.
Treat overseas availability as research
A right-hand-drive launch elsewhere does not establish UK distribution or scheme availability. Employers should wait for a UK announcement and provider acceptance before adding this model to a replacement plan.
Compare like-for-like versions
The longest-range LS and the most powerful GSR are different choices. Compare the exact version, wheel specification and test cycle, rather than combining headline maxima.
Check the everyday package
At a future UK test drive, check rear-seat access, child-seat fit, luggage space, controls and driver-assistance behaviour. Compact external dimensions alone do not establish suitability for a household.
Wait for a complete scheme quotation
We can help employers assess the car when UK supply is established. A useful salary sacrifice comparison requires a verified UK P11D value and an approved provider quotation for the chosen term, mileage, insurance and services.
