BMW M3 salary sacrifice

BMW M now identifies its first fully electric high-performance saloon as the BMW M3 and says the car goes into production in 2027. The Neue Klasse-based M uses four electric motors and BMW M Dynamic Performance Control, while final UK timing, pricing, homologated range and orderable configurations remain unconfirmed.

Confirmed facts

These points are supported by attributable manufacturer or corporate source material.

BMW now names the fully electric M3

BMW M's own model index lists a new 100% electric BMW M3 Sedan, and BMW M Head of Development Alexander Karajlovic describes the production programme as the fully electric BMW M3. This resolves the model-family identity without relying on the reported iM3 name.

Production is planned for 2027

BMW M says 2026 is the final development year before the first fully electric BMW M high-performance model goes into production in 2027. BMW Group UK separately says the first fully electric M model will debut in 2027. Neither statement is a UK order-opening or delivery commitment.

Four-motor M eDrive

BMW confirms one electric motor per wheel with BMW M Dynamic Performance Control in the Heart of Joy computer. The front axle can be fully decoupled, allowing rear-driven running as well as all-wheel drive.

Neue Klasse high-performance architecture

BMW M says the electric high-performance architecture uses Gen6 technology, an 800-volt electrical system and a high-voltage battery with more than 100 kWh of energy content. These programme figures are not final UK homologation or configuration data.

Provisional information

Manufacturer targets and early specifications may change. Check the final UK version before comparing costs or capability.

ZA0 is a development code, not the customer name

BMW M's own Nürburgring development material labels the prototype ZA0, while its production-facing material calls the car the fully electric BMW M3. ZA0 should therefore remain a development reference rather than a public family name.

Nürburgring development is active

BMW M says every M vehicle completes about 8,000 kilometres of Nordschleife development and shows the electric prototype testing there. September spy reporting also photographed the prototype sliding on track near a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. The encounter does not establish a comparative lap time, power figure or production performance claim.

Output remains unconfirmed

Independent reports have suggested roughly 800 to 900 hp, but BMW has not published a final production output for the electric M3. Do not use those estimates in hard filters or cost comparisons.

Natural-fibre components are coming

BMW M confirms natural-fibre composites for future series-production vehicles and used them on the M Concept Neue Klasse. The exact production M3 components, including any roof application, remain unconfirmed.

What is not confirmed yet?

  • UK reveal, order opening, allocation, production and first customer delivery dates
  • UK list and on-the-road prices, P11D value, insurance group and employer-provider quotations
  • final production power, torque, acceleration, top speed and Nürburgring performance
  • final gross and usable battery capacity, certified WLTP range, energy consumption and charging curve
  • final UK seating, dimensions, luggage capacity, kerb weight, payload and towing limits
  • UK grades, paints, upholstery, wheels, options, packs, warranty and servicing details

How should you use this information?

Consider your replacement date, everyday journeys, and the choices your employer’s programme supports.

Keep development figures separate from the orderable car

The four-motor architecture is official, but output estimates, spy-shot details and track encounters are not final UK configuration evidence. Wait for the production specification before comparing performance or range.

Use the stable M3 identity

BMW now calls the production programme the fully electric M3. Treat ZA0 as a development code and avoid creating a separate iM3 or Electric M3 family unless BMW later changes the customer-facing name.

Plan around the actual replacement date

Production in 2027 does not establish when a UK employer can order or receive the car. If a current lease ends sooner, compare an extension or an available alternative until a build slot and delivery date are confirmed.

Calculate salary sacrifice only from verified UK pricing

A credible comparison needs the final UK P11D value and a dated quotation from the employer's approved provider, including the selected configuration, term, mileage, insurance and services.
